'Samapti': A coming of age story by Tagore

The female character, Mrinmoyee is central to the story. Returning from Kolkata after his exams, Amulya spends a few days with his mother. The latter has arranged a good match for him. The son opposes the marriage proposal and draws his mother's attention to his love for Mrinmoyee, a restless adolescent. Against his mother's wishes, he marries Mrinmoyee. On their first night together, she escapes by climbing down a tree and spends the night outside. After the difficult wedding night, Amulya, instead of facing his new circumstances, hastily goes back to Kolkata and Mrinmoyee is sent back to her mother's house. Once he is gone, she realises how much she really misses him and returns to Amulya's mother. Coming to terms with this situation, his mother pretends to be sick to bring Amulya back and reunite the couple.

Prabal, the director of the telefilm said, "In my telefilm I have tried to portray in depth the changing moods of Mrinmoyee. The film traces her transition from adolescence to womanhood. Mrinmoyee is a rebel, a tomboy and her growth into maturity in the film does not necessarily imply that she has put her rebelliousness behind her. The patient Amulya also comes of age through the pursuit of his bride and his acceptance of her despite her initial rejection of him."

Prabal adapted the short story by Rabindranath Tagore as a tribute to the author to mark his birth anniversary this year.

Nowha Munir Dihan, Badrul Anam Saud, Toru Mustafa, Shirin Alam, Tonmoy are the major cast members of the telefilm.

The film will be aired on Srabon 22 (August 6), the 65^th death anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore at 3:00 pm on ATN Bangla. The film is produced by Oidip Media.
