Satranji collection aids Lifebuoy Friendship Hospital
Lifebuoy Friendship Hospital is a project that plans to extend its arms to reach the underprivileged and offer them the basic health care services. It is presently working to reach areas to help certain segments of the population residing in the islands around the Jamuna. The ship is equipped with the all the modern-day technology, providing primary healthcare, health education and behavioural change communication (BCC).
The exhibition included satranjis of different sizes and shapes, depicting trees, flowers, fish, peacocks, elephants and other natural elements of our culture. Colourful scarves made of pure silk, jamdani and tissue covered the area as well. Hand-made bags made of jute and khadi, hand-made note pads, nakshikantha wall hangings, candles and Christmas lightings had also attracted many spectators. There were also small stools and benches where rikshaw paintings and designs were used, so as to preserve this art.
As part of its Community Care Program, a percentage of the proceeds have been donated to the Lifebuoy Friendship Hospital and the rest to the weavers and workers in Rangpur.
