On the occasion of World Peace Day, Chattagram Charushilpi Shammilan and Nonviolence International organised a painting exhibition recently at Chittagong Shilpakala Academy. The exhibi-tion featured works of 20 artists who participated in the six-day artists’ camp. The theme and slogan of the camp was "For peace let the world be mine free".

During wars, the wide use of land mines have cost many unsus-pecting and innocent civilians their lives or have left them permanently crippled.

Countries have been working incessantly for a world free of land mines. Bangladesh is not lagging behind either. Bangladesh is one the countries that have signed the Land mine Ban Treaty.

Artists throughout the world are continuing their efforts against the demons of war and the weapons that are still taking lives of millions.

The exhibition focuses on the devastation caused by land mines. The artists who have participated in the camp and exhibition are: Ansar Ali, Khaza Quayyum, Nasima Masud Ruby, Sanjib Datta, Kanai Lal Mazumder, Tasaddek Hossain Dulu, Osman Pasha, Taufiqul Islam Bhuiyan, Sumon Haldar, Shafayet Khan, Pijush Dastidar, Pradyut Majumdar, Abesh Kumar Indu, Tapan Das, Gautam Pal, Uttam Kumar Talukder, Zia Sikdar, Partha Pratim, Ashraful Alam and Subash Kumar Dey.
