Selection round of Bengal Bikash Dhaka region held

On the contest, Rizwana Chowdhury Banya, noted Tagore artiste and a member of the directorial board of Bengal Bikash, said, "Talent hunts have become a trend in recent months. However, some of these 'talent hunts' are trying to make a 'hero' or 'idol' out of individuals rather than nurturing or moulding a talented artiste. Bengal Bikash intends to work solely to bring out a true 'artiste' and not a 'star'."

In the selection round, 313 contestants took part in four categories songs of Tagore, Nazrul, folk and "the three poets" (DL Roy, Atul Prasad and Rajnikanta Sen). The adhunik songs round will be held after Eid.
