Selim Al Din's work comes to the small screen

Upcoming TV serial Protnonari, set to air on Channel 1, is based on a well-known novel by Selim Al Din. The 20-episode drama serial features a complex story: The vivid imagination of the protagonist; a writer obsessed with an illusive female character. He dreams of this woman and considers her existence in his imagination to be real. In his fantasy, the character often takes different identities -- Paromita, Promiti, Boukali, Dombi -- all related to different ages in history. However, he eventually realises that she is not alive.

About the serial, director Rafi Hossain said, "Protnonari belongs to a genre of mythology-related plays which interweave stories in contemporary times. The shooting of Protnanari was a very satisfying experience for me as I had the chance to work with prominent playwright Selim Al Din as well as with a cast of skilled actors."

Dilara Zaman, Sumaiya Shimu, Jitu Ahsan, Apurba, Monimala, Shumi, Vashwar Badhopaddhay, among others, don the major roles in the serial.
