Shamim's first solo in London
This was Shamim's first solo exhibition abroad. His paintings have previously been part of a group exhibition at Gallery Kusabue in Japan. In Bangladesh he has taken part in exhibitions at the Arial Centre, National Museum, Berger Young Artist Exhibition, Gallery Tone and Bulbul Academy amongst others.
About the exhibition in London, Shamim said, "In our constant search for happiness, in our grasping for peace and pleasure, are we lost? Have we found what we hoped to find? In our euphoria we do not take time out to reconcile because maybe we will be disappointed...Our paradise is vulnerable."

Syed Mohammad Shamim's paintings are colourful and restless abstractions, expressing poetically the shifting premise on which paradise lies. His marks are dynamic. Images of birds, boats, trees, water, roads and paradise appear within our grasp and then fragment.
Shamim studied at the Bulbul Academy of Fine Arts (BAFA) in Dhaka and has a studio in Mohakhali, Dhaka. His future plans are to exhibit his works in other European countries.
