Shanto-Mariam University Hosts Spectacular Photography Exhibition by 48th Batch
The Department of Fashion Design & Technology at Shanto-Mariam University of Creative Technology proudly presented the Photography Exhibition 2025 Brings Student Creativity to Life, organized by the 48th Batch of the Photography Course. The event, held on the 2nd floor of the university campus, showcased the creative talents of students who underwent an intensive six-month photography program (PHG 2202).
The exhibition was inaugurated by Professor Mostafizul Haque, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, as the Chief Guest, alongside Professor Shishir Kumar Bhattacharjee, Dean of the Faculty of Design & Technology. Distinguished guests, including Head of Department Md. Matiar Rahman, Coordinator Farhana Karim, faculty members, and enthusiastic students, graced the occasion, making it a grand success.
Under the guidance of Assistant Professor M N I Chowdhury, the students explored various aspects of photography, including portrait, fashion, landscape, and motion photography. Students also engaged in practical experiences including a field visit to the Military Museum and portfolio reviews of national and international fashion photographers. The exhibition displayed a diverse collection of images, capturing their journey from learning camera functions to mastering composition and lighting.
A unique aspect of the course was students photographing their classmates as models, using their own devices. The displayed works were carefully selected through a voting process by class representatives (CRs). The decorations, mostly crafted from recycled materials, added an eco-friendly touch to the event. A highlight was the banner featuring self-portraits of all participating students, symbolizing their collective effort.
"You don't take a photo, you make it"—this philosophy resonated throughout the exhibition, reflecting the students' dedication. The event not only marked the completion of their course but also demonstrated their growth as aspiring photographers and fashion professionals.
The university's initiative to integrate photography into fashion and apparel studies has empowered students to enhance their creative and technical skills, preparing them for the competitive industry. The exhibition concluded with appreciation from faculty and guests, celebrating the students' hard work and artistic vision.
