Shilpakala observes Nazrul's anniversary
A discussion and a colourful cultural programme were arranged by the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy to mark the 27th death anniversary of our National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam at the academy premises recently. The cultural programme started with the recitation of Nazrul's poems and speeches by Kamrunnahar, Shamsuzzoha Kachi and Shayla Ahmed. This was followed by a group dance by theAkriti Nritya Dal. With the songPhuler Jalshay Nirob Keno Kabilittle children in snow-white dresses performed. They looked like fairies. After the dance, promising and eminent singers of our cultural arena performed Nazrul songs. Sifat -e-Manzur started her performance with the songEsho Badhu Phirey Eshoand Joseph Kamal Rodricks rendered two songsShawon Ashilo PhireyandAlga Karogo Khopar Bandhon. Famous Nazrul singer Shahin Samad came on stage and performedE Ankhijal Mochho PriyaandNahey Nahey Priyafollowed byKar Manjir Rimjhim BajeyandRimjhim Ghana Deya Barashey by Rasheda Zaman Kishi.
Earlier, in a discussion meeting, Nazrul specialist Dr. Karunamay Goshwami spoke on putting a bar to changing the original style of Nazrul songs. Professor Wakil Ahmad and the Director General of Shilpakala Academy Ahmad Nazir also spoke at the occasion.
