Shortcutey Barolok: A departure from the stereotyped story

The story is based on the interaction between the civilised society and the scheduled caste people like the sweepers. In the film the protagonist, Mahfuz Ahmed, a sweeper, wants to get rich by any means. He does not hesitate to commit a crime or get involved in immoral activities. To quote Nargis, 'The the greedy fellow loses his foothold in society as well as his own conscience. I wanted to present how a man who makes the wrong decisions suffers at the end of the day.'

Nargis is very hopeful about the success of the movie because of the strong story line and the elements of an entertaining but clean movie. Based on a story by the director herself, Abdullah Mahir Babu has written the screenplay and dialogue for the film. Nargis said, 'The audience will enjoy the movie because all the elements of a commercial film, such as songs and dance, are included here.' Simultaneously, the culture, emotion, language and the lifestyle of these scheduled caste people has been authentically portrayed in the film.

The main characters of the film are well suited for their roles. According to Nargis Akhtar, 'Mayuri is a girl of a sweeper community, while Mahfuz is a simpleton and Poppy plays the role of a young girl, the only daughter of a rich man. The three actors will amuse the audience. By watching this film the audience will be relieved from the stereotypical, monotonous stories and cinematography of today's typical films,' she added.
