Dhaka Little Theatre celebrates 25 years
Cultural Correspondent
In 1978, a few young theatre activists began a theatre group exclusively for the younger generation, calling it the Dhaka Little Theatre. Since then, they have crossed 25 years, filled with a vast number of successful stage work to their name. The group recently celebrated their 25th year at the Drik Gallery where all the old- members also got a chance to re-unite with the new ones.
The program began with a silent remembrance of Late Najma Jasmine Chowdhury and Late Faria Lara, active members of the theatre group. This was followed by a few words on the achievements made by the group by Sirajul Islam Chowdhury and Fayez Ahmed. Later on, there were little productions, singing and recitation to entertain the members and the visitors. Right before lunch was served, several video shots were shown on the VCR, going back to 1990 to the theatre's 12th anniversary.
While speaking to one of the organisers who had actually started this group 25 years ago, Morshed said, that this group was his dream, which he is still trying to develop further for the children of this country. Very soon they plan to bring out yet another production early next year, so new applicants are very much welcome.
