Six plays staged on the second day of Street Theatre festival

There has been a feast of theatrical works in the recent past. Six theatre groups staged six street plays on the second day (February 2) of the weeklong Jatio Patha Natok Utshob--2005 arranged by the Bangladesh Group Theatre Federation (BGTF)) in association with Bengal Foundation.

Prachyanat, Bibartan, Abayab Natya Dal and Vaskar Natyadal staged their plays in both venues-- Shaheed Minar premises and Rabindra Sarobar near Dhanmondi Lake. Their productions were No Man's Land, Gupta Bidya, Lali and Kheyali Raja respectively. Kheyali Natyasampradaya staged a show of Mahesh at Shaheed Minar premises while Barnamala Theatre staged a show of Adim Manush Ebong Amra at Rabindra Sarobar.

Each of the plays delivered strong messages and there was a good turnout of the audience in the open air venue.

Earlier, on February 1, the patha natok festival was inaugurated at Central Shaheed Minar Preimses by eminent educationist Sardar Fazlul Karim. Theatre personalities Ramendu Majumdar, Mamunur Rashid, Nasiruddin Yousuff and others delivered speeches in the opening programme. Jantu, a play based on Syed Shamsul Haq's novel, presented by Theatre (Bailey Road)- was staged as the first play of the week-long drama festival on the opening day.
