Sohana Saba: Fresh face in Bangladeshi cinema

Currently she is playing the role of a young woman who is HIV positive in a drama serial on ntv titled Biborna Bhalobasha. She has also worked in other TV plays such as Moina Amar Mago, Ekhono Andhokar, Dokan, Bimurto and Stroino where she played important characters.

Asked about her current film assignments, she says, "My work in my first two films have been noticed and I have been getting good offers from filmmakers. Negotiations are on. I did refuse a few offers because I was not happy with the banner or the script."

Talking about her entry into the Bangladeshi film industry, she says, "When Kabori Sarwar offered me the lead role in her film opposite Ferdous, I went through the script, which I found intriguing. Of course to be cast opposite Ferdous, one of the leading actors in our cinema, was an opportunity I could not turn down. Needless to say, I gladly accepted the offer."

Talking about the working experience with Morshedul Islam, she says, "Working with Morshedul Islam can be a great learning experience for any newcomer. With his skills and immense experience he has been like a teacher and a guide to me throughout the film. He often used to tell me how to do a particular scene."

Sharing an interesting experience, she says, "It was in Sonar-gaon. In the film Aaina there was a sequence, where I have to row a boat. The shot was taken on a camera crane from a distance. I was rowing the boat seriously for an hour as I thought it was part of the sequence. I couldn't make out when the shooting was over since nobody asked me to stop. When I came back to the shore, I realised that the shooting unit had packed up long ago and the unit members were busy chatting."

About her dream roles, she says, "I haven't given it a serious thought. But I would like to do a variety of roles in good films, be it comedy, romance, action, thriller, or drama. In a nutshell, any role with substance."
