A glimpse of the musical soiree

Seven promising singers Nirjhar Chowdhury, Jannat-e-Ferdaus Lucky, Masud Ahmed, Mafiz-ur-Rahman, Rukhsana Mumtaz, Zakir Hossain Tapan, Aklima Akhtar Aankhi and prominent Nazrul singer Khairul Anam Shakil rendered songs at the programme

The function started with rendering of Tagore songs-- Aamar e path and Jokhon porbe na mor by Nirjhar Chowdhury.

Jannat-e-Ferdaus Lucky's performance of Nazrul songs Aami chiro tore dure and Tor rupe shoi gahon kore were impressive.

Masud Ahmed rendered two popular adhunik (modern) songs-- Satinath Mukhopadhyay's Aamar ei gaane and Manobendra Mukhopadhyay's Aamar hridoy niye.

Rukhsana Mumtaz's rendition of Ferdausi Rahman's song of the 1960s, Ei neel neel niswaim touched the heart of the audience. The other song she rendered was Seeta Basu's Amar kobar moron hobe.

Zakir Hossain sang Manna De's O keno eto shundori holo and Basir Ahmed's Onek shadher moina amar. In response to the call for an encore, he rendered Hemanta's popular song Ami dur hote tomare dekhechhi.

Aklima Akhtar sang Shahnaz Rahmatullah's Phuler kane bhromor eshe and Sabina Yasmin's Rimjhim jhim borshate.

The last singer of the evening was Khairul Anam Shakil. With his stentorian voice modulation, the Nazrul singer presented Shaono rate jodi and Padmar dheure.

The function was appreciated, as the organisation endeavoured to promote promising singers of the country. The musical soiree was held at Begum Sufia Kamal Auditorium, National Museum.
