Songs of yesterday

Cultural organisation Srijan arranged a cultural evening with some prominent and promising singers of the country who sang a number of old Bangla songs at the Bishwa Shahitya Kendra auditorium recently. With their slogan 'to prevent anti-culture, the practice of pure culture is the only way to make the trend of Bangla culture go smoothly', the organisation organises these programmes on every last Sunday at 6.30pm at the auditorium.
The programme was inaugurated by a singer of the Shwadhin Bangla Betar Kendra, Shahin Samad and the principal of the South Bridge International School, Zinat Choudhury was also present at the ceremony.
BTV artiste Zinia Khan Moyna sang two folk songs Bhromor koiyo gia and Ami na jani piritir eto jala.Farhana Bobby Lipi is an enlisted singer of Bangladesh Betar who sang three modern songs Akash meghe dhaka (Chitra Sing), Amar mon boley tumi ashbey (Runa Laila) and Emon ekta jhinuk khunje pelam na which were greatly applauded by the audience. Shammi Choudhury, also an actress of BTV, sang compositions of the old-gold days, Ogo megh tumi jhar eney dao and Golape nei ki kadar. Betar and BTV artiste Juli Sharmili Alam sang three numbers as well Oi gachher patay roder,Mayna balo tumi krishna radhe and Ogo ar kichhu to noy. Jharna Rahman is a Betar singer since 1978 who sang three songs Akashey aj ronger khela, Jhara pata jharke dake and Rimjhim barshatey. Finally Shahnaz Rahman Shikriti sang Eki shonar aloy and E shudhu ganer din e logono gan shonabar.
