The only way to establish the Bangla cultural trend and to prevent cultural aggression is the practice of regular cultural activities'--with this slogan, cultural organisation Srijon arranges evening soiree of songs of yesteryears on last Sundays of every month at the Bishwo Shahitya Kendro. On last Sunday the organisation arranged its programme for this month presenting both prominent and promising artistes.

Popular Nazrul Sangeet singer Khairul Anam Shakil attended the programme as the chief guest while celebrated Rabindra Sangeet singer Saadi Mohammad was present as the special guest. The secretary of the Nazrul Academy Mintu Rahman was also present at the event.

The soiree comprised old melodies from various genres like Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet, songs of Atul Prasad. Singer Amina Ahmed performed two Tagore songs Asha Jawar Pother Dharey and Shudhu Jawa Asha Shudhu Srotey Bhasha. Kakoli sang two beautiful songs of Atul Proshad--Keu Nayon Mudey Dekhe Alo and Premey Jal Hoye Jao Goley. Her performance was very brilliant.

Besides the artistes of the group, Khairul Anam Shakil also rendered Chhilo Chand Megher Parey, a song of Himangshu Dutta, which was based on Chandramollika raga, and a popular Nazrul song E Ki Ashim Piasha.

Later singers Farzana Yasmeen, Zinia Khan Mala, Samia Naz Lubna, Tomal, Mina Sharmin, Rumana Khan and Malik Nafiz performed a few more popular songs of the by-gone days.

Srijon is surely contributing a lot to the practice of good music through its regular arrangements like this. Especially the comparatively newcomers in the music world are often being introduced in these programmes.
