Special Talk Show on World Health Day

O Mon Monrey--a special talk show on World Health Day will be aired on Channel i today at 3:50pm. The programme will focus on suicide: its causes, how it can be prevented and the importance of raising social awareness against it.

In today's competitive and stressful environment, suicide has become a very common phenomenon. Very often this extreme step is linked to mental illness.

The show will feature discussions from renowned artist Mustafa Monwar and Anowara Syed Huq. Professor M A Sobhan will give a scientific explanation of suicide. A short film on suicide will also be shown. Dr Salauddin Kauser will host the programme.

'Islam ki boley, Amra ki kori' awarded


Popular Islamic talk show on ATN BanglaIslam ki boley, amra ki korihas received The Asian City-Dhaka Cultural Reporters Unity (DCRU) Award 2005 as the 'Best Islamic Programme' in the television category. Establishment secretary Dr Mahbubur Rahman presented the award at the National Theatre Stage, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy recently, according to a press release.

The programme is the first Islamic talk show in the country and has been aired on ATN Bangla since 2004. The talk show aims at breaking the traditional mould through identifying and discussing national and international issues from an Islamic perspective. The topics include political instability, social injustice, poverty, unemployment, terrorism, corruption, world security, price hike of essentials and tolerance in Islam. Noted political leaders, political analysts, educationists, bureaucrats, lawyers, legislators, journalists, women activists and members of other religious communities participate in the discussions.

Hosted by eminent Islamic thinker and nuclear scientist Dr M Shamsher Ali, the talk show is aired every Friday at 10:30am and every Wednesday at 4:20pm.
