Das's other films include Songs of Muhulbani which deals with the romantic and traditional songs, dances and art work as well as crafts of the Santals of India. As he says, "The Santals are fighting for three decades for their own state. To conduct research, I had to visit the places very often. I've made many more films on them and hope to visit them on January 31. " Five years back, he said, he made the film The Poet and the King, which was based on Rabindranath Tagore, who had a strong connection with the Tripura royal family for over 50 years. He worked with theatre personalities like Peter Brook, Jerzy Grotwosky and Habib Tanvir.

Das studied in Kolkata where he got his taste for art, films and writing. He learnt screenplay writing from Jean Claude Carrier and Niroth Mahapatra. He was a jury of the Brisbane International Film Festival.
