Super Glue

Shaju Khadem, the playwright as well as director of Super Glue, has created a fantasy world in the play to deliver the message that human beings have the wonderful potential of adapting themselves to any changed situation. As the subplot, the play reveals that unity is strength, which can overcome any obstacle.
However, none of the actions of the drama, match with the theme of the play, which is weird itself. For instance, in creating the fantasy world, his idea of attaching ones hand with the others permanently with super glue seems absurd.
Director Shaju has not adhered to a single trend. Moreover, his amalgamation of different drama forms is not properly executed. He has unfolded the story of the play through a narrator. And then, he has blended third theatre form (introduced by Badal Sarkar) and non-verbal form and others. The choreography of the play, based on ethnic dance forms, is not effective. Moreover, his repetition of narration and choreography four times at the second half of the play is perplexing. Sometimes the viewers were confronted with the question-- is this theatre or dance drama or what?
Shaju's suggestive set design is stylish and deserves plaudits. His set has different stairs on the stage. By changing a few set elements he has successfully created a different atmosphere such as a ship and island.
M Jasimuddin and Sarwar Bappi's joint light design is not effective. It has lack of visibility, which is the basic of light designing.
Super Glue is teamwork based production. Nagorik Natayangan should develop their potential particularly during the transformation of character.
