Swiss art in Dhaka
A selection of arts and crafts from Switzerland is on display at the Goethe-Institute, Dhaka. The exhibition that opened recently will continue till March 13. In addition to presenting the traditions and folklore, the variety of programmes -- films, documentaries, and lectures on and about Switzerland -- are aimed to portray the contemporary image of the country, says a press release.
Arts and crafts developed in Switzerland throughout centuries reveal various influences, which know no political boundaries. Art from northern Switzerland, for example, is clearly part of the Alpine culture, while a Latin influence dominates in the Tessin. The differences are most marked in the types of motifs and decoration used.
Each day there will be a cultural programme related to Swiss culture, politics and art.
