Veena Sikri, High Commissioner of India in Bangladesh, inaugurated the event by lighting the mangal pradip.

The programme honoured five young artistes-- Shukanta Chakravarty, Partha Pratim Ray, Mina Abid Shahriar, Akib Azmain and Steve Turja Barui with scholarship from Indian Government and certificates. These artistes also got accolades at the National Rabindra Sangeet Conference in April last.

The young artistes are not familiar faces in the cultural arena. However, they showed promise as they rendered Tagore's songs with perfect notation. Amar milon lagi tumi, Jonaki ki shukhey, Ami kan petey roi, Dwip nibhey gechhey and other songs delighted the audience.

Titled Joy Tobo Bichitro Anondey, the second part of the programme started with the song Anondolokey mongolalokey. This was rendered in a chorus led by Mita Haq accompanied with the magnificent dance sequence by Sharmila Bandyopa-dhyay and her troupe carrying lamps in hands.

Established singers Mita Haq, Aditi Mohsin, Lily Islam and Bulbul Islam's rendition of Bishwa bina robey, Amra milechhy aaj, Nishidin bhorosha rakhish, Jodi tor dak shuney keu captivated the audience. The other attraction was the dance recitals by the artistes of Sadhana and Nrityadhara under the direction of Sharmila Bandyopadhyay, Tamanna Rahman, Dipa Khandoker and Minu Haq. Dr Rajeev Humayun designed the programme while Bhaswar Bandyopadhyay anchored the show.
