Celebration of Valentine's Day with the love songs of Tagore seemed a new concept to many, who attended the musical soiree at the WVA auditorium on the second day of Basanta (Spring).

In a very homely atmosphere, Rabirag organised the programme titled Bhalobashar Gaan, where about twenty artistes performed romantic Rabindra Sangeet. Led by the director of the organisation and popular Tagore singer Saadi Mohammad, promising and prominent artistes like Shama Ali, Lily Islam, Swapan Dutt, Ayesha Farid, Golam Haidar, Shafiqur Rahman, Amina Ahmed, Anupam Kumar Paul and Shondhya Bhattacharya performed songs in chorus, duets and solos. The audience enjoyed songs like Dhirey bao Ogo utal hawa, Jadi tarey nai chini, Amar praner porey choley galo ke, Money robe kina robe amare and O amar chander alo.

'Formed in 1987, Rabirag is an organisation committed to perform and practice music with proper style and tune and to bring songs of Tagore close to the common listeners. The teachers of this organisation give musical lessons to promising artistes and arrange regular programmes on special occasions like Bashanto Utshab, Barsha Mangal and Barshabaran', said Golam Haider, a member of Rabirag. Other programmes like Srotar Ashor features upcoming artistes along with the prominent singers of the media, he added. Rabirag also arranges programmes of Bhanga Gaan by Tagore. These are songs of a different variety, where Tagore composed songs, based on original classical tunes.

Rabirag has also produced a few dance dramas like Shapmochon and Chitrangada in collaboration with Nrityanchal.
