Tagore's Shasti sponsored by HSBC

Minister of Information M Shamsul Islam,as the chief guest, formally inaugurated the 'Shuvo Maharot' of the filmShastirecently, says a press release. Among others Adil Islam, Head of Corporate Banking of HSBC in Bangladesh, Information Secretary AMM Nasriuddin, Faridur Reza Sagar of Impress Telefilm were present on the occasion.

HSBC sponsored the film Shasti, based on the story of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore. This is the first time in Bangladesh history that, a feature film is being made on Tagore's short story. Renowned film maker Chashi Nazrul Islam, directs the film with the project initiated by Impress Telefilm.

Speaking on the occasion, Adil Islam said, 'Along with the economic and business activities in the country, as a conscious corporate citizen, HSBC would also like to encourage the practice of Bangla literature and culture. With the spread of the electronic media, Bishwakabi Rabindranath's short story Shasti may be made more popular among the young generation, if Tagore's literary work goes on celluloid.'
