Taking folk music to schools

Recently, PBSUS went to different schools at Dhaka, Narshingdi and Manikganj districts with 52 CDs of folk songs of the legendary bards like Lalon Shah, Hason Raja, Radha Raman, Bijoy Sarcar and others. Moreover, traditional folk instruments were also introduced to the school children.

Ferdausi Najma, chairperson of PBSUS, said, "We believe that our rich tradition will be lost unless we promote awareness of folk music among the younger generation. That is why PBSUS with the patronage of the US Embassy has taken the initiative to promote traditional folk music at the school level."
