Talk-show Democracy on Channel-i

Channel i has begun telecasting a new talk show titled Democracy from July 5 at 5.40 pm every week. This talk show features panel discussions by Bangladeshi experts, including the opinions of the politicians and Members of Parliament from UK, Sri Lanka and India. Produced in a talk show format, the topics of the show are: (i) What we understand by democracy, (ii) Democracy in the family (iii) Nomination process of a Parliament Member, (iv) Role of an MP, (v) How an MP can represent his or her constituency in the Parliament and the central government in a better way, (vi) Inner democracy of a political party.

Hosted and designed by media expert Muhammad Jahangir, the participants are Dr Kamal Hossain, Prof Sirajul Islam Chowdhury, Shafiq Rehman, Prof Emajuddin Ahmed, ABM Musa, Bazlur Rahman, Taleya Rehman, Prof Dilara Chowdhury, Barrister Aminul Islam and others. The Centre for Development Communication has produced the series with the assistance of Foreign and Commonwealth office (UK) and the British Council. The programme has been designed with the aim of familiarising viewers with democracy and Parliamentary democracy, and how democracy is being practised in other countries.
