Tapur Tupur brings folklore to life

Tapur Tupur Entertainment marked the first day of the Bangla calendar year 1411 with a day-long programme at Public Library, Shawakat Osman Memorial Auditorium, says a press release. The function was inaugurated by renowned cultural activist professor Momtazuddin Ahmed while Wahidul Islam, chief executive of Tapur Tupur Entertainment, gave the welcome speech. Theatre performed their 20th productionRupbhan. Based on a very popular folk tale, the musical script is composed by Hiner Dey and the drama is directed by Kamruzzaman Chowdhury.

Based on a romantic epic of poet Jasimuddin, the play Shojan Badiyar Ghat, was presented by Padatik Nattya Sangsad. Kazi Rafique directed the piece while SS Solaiman composed and wrote the script. The whole composition was dedicated to the great poet Jasimuddin to mark his 100th birth anniversary.


Lending a helping hand to Rani Sarkar
Mercantile Bank Foundation recently made a donation to Rani Sarkar, a prominent film actress of the country. Rani has been suffering from various diseases in the last few months. A cheque was handed over to her by Luthfar Rahman Sarkar, chief advisor of the bank. AKM Shahidul Haque, DMD, cultural personalities Ataur Rahman, Ramendu Majumdar and Mustafa Monowar were also present on the occasion.


Baul festival to mark Pahela Baishakh
Nobo Anonde Jago. This was the slogan at a day-long performance by the Bauls from different parts of the country. The occasion was organised by Shah Cement Industries Ltd at the Engineering Institution of Bangladesh. Renowned folklore researcher Dr Ashraf Siddiqui attended the function.


Mirpur Sangskritik Forum celebrates the Bangla New Year
On Pahela Baisakh, various cultural organisations from Mirpur, Kafrul and Pallabi got together to celebrate the day at the Mirpur University campus. Starting off with a discussion, prominent cultural activists spoke at the occassion, namely Momtazuddin Ahmed, Mohammed Rezaul Karim, Binta Haq, Kazi Rossy, Commissioner Munshi Bazlul Bashit and many others. An organised rally took off from the campus.


The first day of the Bangali New Year at Comilla
A recent function was organised by the Jatio Rabindra Sangeet Sammelan Parishad. The venue was the IEB centre at Shaktola, Comilla. A cultural programme,with songs and dances, enthralled the audience.
