Sharatchandra Chattopadhyay's classic novelParineetawill shortly be seen on small screen. After directingDui Bon, a classic by Rabindranath Tagore, Chayanika Chowdhury is now planning to makeParineeta. Tarin will play the protagonist Lalita and Mahfuz Ahmed will be seen as Shekhar in the telefilm. The shooting is to begin in September this year. Chayanika is looking for an appropriate and authentic shooting spot for the telefilm. Mahfuz has suggested two zamindar houses, located in Nawabganj and Rangpur.

About the portrayal of Sharatchandra's novel, Chayanika says, "I will prepare the script without changing the true essence of the original story. It would be a reproduction of Sharat's timeless classic."

Talking about the preparation that went into his characterisation, Mahfuz says, "I have read the book and am well acquainted with the story. I am also watching the movies and TV plays that have been created based on the novel Parineeta. That way I can prepare myself for the role--without losing my individuality."
