Theatre Festival

Soon after the closing of the ongoing film festival on September 24, the city will experience another carnival of performing arts.

Nagorik Natyangan Ensemble (NNE) is going to hold a nine-day long theatre festival at the National Library auditorium starting from September 26. Entitled Durjoy Praner Anande Natya Utshab, the festival will feature stage plays by Aranyak Natyadal, Lok Natyadal and NNE from Bangladesh, and Bahurupi and Rangakormi from India.

Veteran theatre actor-director-instructor in the country Tajmilur Rahman and eminent actor-director of the subcontinent Kumar Ray will together inaugurate the festival at 10 am. Reverend poet Shamsur Rahman will attend the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest.

The schedule of the plays to be staged during the festival is as follows:
