Abhijeet Sawant & Amit Sana

As the hosts of the show Mini Mathur and Aman Verma put it, "It is the regulation of the show that someone has to leave every week." And hence after six months all the talented singers had to bid farewell barring two, Abhijeet Sawant and Amit Sana.

Abhijeet has been singing with an orchestra for the last four years. His uncle initiated him into singing. He comes from a very simple family and his father works for the Mumbai Municipal Corporation. There was no real family objection to his joining an orchestra since he sang well and the prize money was generous.

Questioned about his reaction to his recent fame through Indian Idol, Abhijeet says, "This experience has meant a lot to me in terms of just experiencing different emotions ranging from anger, jealousy to sheer joy." But last week at the result show of the semi-final when one his rivals Rahul Vaidya was voted off, Abhijeet seemed appalled. "Rahul deserves to be the Indian Idol more than me," Abhijeet remarked.

When Amit Sana came for the auditions of the Indian Idol nobody knew but his family. Now with the show on air everyone has had a chance to hear this vocal artiste who believes strongly in individuality. He is feeling the weight of being one of the two finalists who will battle it out to be the Indian Idol but his family is being very supportive, particularly his father who has full faith in his ability and his dream. "I am a humble and quiet person. But I can tell you that with each passing round of the Indian Idol I am changing. I have always been less confident. Other peoples' talent has always overawed me but now I will not let anyone put me in a corner," says Amit.

So, who will be the next Indian Idol? Amit or Abhijeet, whoever wins at the final round will have the glory of acquiring star status in India and get the chance to represent India in the World Idol.
