Dhaka's music lovers were in for some entertainment at an unplugged concert at the Bashundhara Convention Centre on May 5. Popular beverage brand NESCAFE organised the concert, titledNESCAFE 3-in-1 Unplugged.

The event featured gala performances of the popular bands LRB, Black, Trio and three winners of NESCAFE Campus Star and presented the audience with the pure essence of Bangla and English classics. Apart from the usual electric guitars, keyboards and different instruments, music lovers experienced pure acoustic music.

Minutes before NESCAFE 3-in-1 Unplugged began, the auditorium was almost overflowing with music fans. The evening got going with a welcome speech by Carlo Cifiello, managing director of Nestle Bangladesh Limited. Black started the performance with one of their popular numbers. The song, titled Blues and Roud struck a responsive chord. Next, Elita and John performed a duet.

Then came Trio -- a band from Chittagong. Acclaimed as an alternative band, their number Paromanobik was evidence of their distinctive style. They also performed some popular English numbers. The three NESCAFE Campus Star winners, Piano, Arafat and Shanu sang the original soundtrack of the Nescafe 3-in-1 theme song Cholo shobai and entertained the audience.

The audience took a break as one of the main attractions of the evening, LRB, took time to set up their instruments. Ayub Bachchu began with his popular number Shei tumi. An appreciative audience sang along with him as he played his all-time favourites: Ekhon onek raat, Hashtey dekho, E kemon aleya and Ami jabo choley.

The event wrapped up with a performance of Ayub Bachchu and Naqib Khan. To the acclaim of the audience, they jointly performed the evergreen song Mon shudhu mon chhuyeche.
