Time to re-decorate

Modern clocks can add contemporary chic and style to your interiors while older models can add a more ornate and vintage vibe to your homes. Here are some great ideas for this favourite – and useful! – accent piece.

FOCAL POINTS

Clocks don't have to blend in like 'wallflowers'; in fact they can set the tone for your room. One of the best ways to make a clock the focus of a room is to hang it directly opposite to the doorway into the room, so that it is the first thing that you see when you walk in.

Large clocks make the best focal points. Put up clocks in bright colours to make a loud statement or a muted colour to make a chic one. Go for contrast – in a room full of solid colors put up a patterned clock (like, a chevron printed one) to make it the centre of attraction.

REMINDERS

And I do not mean alarms. Put a quirky twist on boring phone reminders or calendar scribbles by stopping clocks to display the exact time of the births of people special to you. This is especially great for anyone who has children. You can even hang photos above the clocks to make a beautiful photo display.

SHELF DISPLAYS

Instead of simply hanging clocks on the wall, make an artistic statement by placing it on a shelf and resting it against the wall (make sure you position your clock securely so it does not roll away!). If you think this is too much of an earthquake hazard or simply prefer fastening your clocks on the wall, you can hang the clock so that it sits directly above the shelf to achieve the same effect.

GO VINTAGE

If you are tired of the typical round styled or digital clocks, pendulum clocks can be a great alternative (if you can find them!). They can make for a truly vintage and luxurious room décor. Traditional and always in style, clocks with swinging pendulums can quickly fill the room with cosy nostalgia.
