Touching the 18th year milestone

The evening programme was an informal affair among the organisation members. The president of the club, renowned Tagore singer Kalim Sharafi lit the diyas in a traditional ceremony. A cake was also cut marking the anniversary. Concurrently the club members sung in chorus the Tagore song Aguner parashmoni choyao praney. Later, the general secretary of the organisation, Tapan Mahmud invited the audience to come on stage and share their experiences. To make the atmosphere livelier and comfortable, he also requested them to come forward and sing. Many of the members came on stage and the general feeling of the members was that it took them blood and sweat to establish the organisation, but today at its 18th anniversary it was all worth it. There was a feeling of success and pride among them.

One of the members pointed out that their Chittagong branch which was established in 1991, though initially ineffective, was now flourishing. It was mentioned that the organisation till date had collected through their meagre means a sum of Taka 3.50 lakh for the destitute, yet well deserving artistes. The evening ended on an informal note with the club members randomly singing familiar Tagore songs.
