Triumph in adversity
Juthi is a graduate from the Institute of Fine Arts (IFA). Her 56 paintings encompass an array of vibrant colours and topics. Portraying realistic figures of animals, birds, flower forms, she has presented the inner spirit and beauty. Logically the titles of her paintings are Watchful, Velocity, Charming, Isolation and so on.
With the help of a sign language interpreter, Juthi said, "Usually I collect the topics from my surroundings and try to give a realistic presentation on my canvas. Since I can't go far away, I take the help of photographs and draw in my distinctive style. The beauty of flora and fauna are my field of interest. And I like to catch the inner spirit of these forms on my canvas."

Though at present she has been working as a senior artist of Adcomm limited, she has traversed a great distance to overcome her limitations. However, as she acknowledges, her parents have inspired her to greater heights. In her words,
"My enthusiasm and admiration of art has brought me to this stage. In my childhood I came across an aphorism that 'Industry is the key to success' which always inspired me to overcome all the hurdles. I would like to mention the enormous support that I have received from my family and friends."
After completing her graduation from the Institute of Fine Arts, Juthi underwent extensive training on graphic designing and developed expertise in software like Abode Photoshop and Illustrator.
And she is eager to do something for the betterment of her peers. She said, "I still work for the Centre for Disabled in Development (CDD) on publishing 'sign language' manuals for the hearing impaired. And in future I'm eager to do even more for the differently abled people who are interested in art."
Before this exhibition Juthi participated in the annual exhibition at the Institute of Fine Arts and six other group-painting exhibitions. She is the winner of the first prize for I Know Myself (mixed media) in the International Miniature Competition in 1998. Earlier she won an award in the 'Khelaghar National Arts Competition', organised by Khelaghar Central Committee in 1992.
