A ritualistic whirlling dance performed by Dervishes
The curiousDervish Dance, performed by a mystical dancer from Turkey, was surely the most amazing for the audience recently, at the Café Bazar Restaurant of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel. The continuous swirling of the holy priest for about 10 minutes without losing balance of the body and the melodious song in the background was definitely a new experience for many. His dance is part of a sacred ceremony in which the dervish rotates in a precise rhythm. He represents the earth revolving on its axis while orbiting the sun.

The cultural event was the part of the inaugural ceremony of a six-day long festival of Turkish food and culture organised by Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in association with the Embassy of Turkey in Bangladesh and the Qatar Airlines.

The cultural part of the programme consisted of three Turkish traditional dance pieces performed by the members of a Turkish dance troupe.
