Two Bangladeshi plays go overseas

Dhaka theatre will stage Binodini today at the 'Theatre Olympics of Nations', which will continue from May 22 to 29 in Manila, Philippines. This is a part of the 31st World Congress of the International Theatre Institute Central Committee.

Binodini is based on the autobiography of Binodini Dasi, the 19th century pioneering theatre activist of the subcontinent, who has made a great contribution to the introduction of urban theatre. Nasiruddin Yousuff is the director of Binodini, which has a solo performance by Shimul Yousuff.

Earlier the play featured in the Mono-drama Festival in Emirates and Nandikar Festival in Kolkata, India.

On the other hand, Nattyajan will stage three shows of Aleekbabu in Delhi, Lucknow, and Kolkata as part of their 12-day India tour. Aleekbabu will be staged in Delhi on May 28, in Lucknow on May 30 and in Kolkata in June 3.

Bhaswar Banyopadhyaya directs Joytirindranath Tagore's comedy, which is a satire on the socio-cultural turmoil of 19th century Bengal.
