Unblemished charm of crystal

Fair and exquisite and clear."

Those, who recently visited the ongoing crystal fair at the Russian Cultural Centre, would definitely agree with the poet. As in previous years, the Russian Centre for Science and Culture organised a nine-day long crystal fair from January 10.

On stepping in to the display room of the centre, one's eyes are dazzled with the colour spectrum of the crystals. Placed on clear mirrors the rays in colour red, violet, green and all the rainbow colours smoothly reflect from the vases, goblets, glasses, candle-stands, ashtrays even an eye catching chess board. " The vase in blue looked exquisite and I will definitely buy it,' said Dora, a housewife visiting the fair. As she continued, " Diamonds are regarded as a girl's best friend and the crystal is the less expensive prototype of this precious stone. Every women aspires to have at least one piece of crystal showpiece in her home."

Almost 400 different varieties of crystal accessories are displayed in the fair. The prices ranged from Taka 150 to 40,000. Apart from regular white clear crystal, green, red, blue, yellow and violet crystal showpieces embellish the crystal fair.
