11 RMG workers injured in stampede
At least 11 workers of a garment factory were injured in a stampede while trying to rush out of a 12-storied building at Badda in the city after a fire broke out yesterday.
Factory sources said the incident occurred at around 9:00am when several panic-stricken workers of New Style Garment on the 5th floor of Lutfun tower at Madhya Badda tried to come out of the factory through the staircase. An electrical short-circuit sparked off the fire.
"We had managed to extinguish the fire with our own fire control equipment before the fire brigade arrived," said the factory officials.
