13 Bangladeshi fishermen freed from Indian jail

They were imprisoned in India for a long time.

Port sources and the fishermen said a few fishing trawlers capsized in the Bay of Bengal on 21st September in 2004 due to storm. The fishermen on board swam to Indian shore where locals rescued them and the law enforcement agencies sent them to jail.

On information, the government of Bangladesh requested the Indian government to hand over the fishermen to them.

The fishermen are Dulam Majhi, Md Milon, Md Julhas, Nantu Miah, Rostam Sarder, Siddiqur Rahman, Md Hiru, Alamgir Hossain, Abdur Rab, Abdul Mannan, Md Afzal, Md Yunus and Abdur Razzaque. They all hailed from Barguna district.
