14-party to agitate for scrapping of voter list

A meeting presided over by AL Presidium Member Abdur Razzak also decided to reply to the letter of BNP Secretary General and LGRD Minister Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan within a couple of days, sources said.

At the meeting, the opposition line-up finalised the draft of the letter, where they will officially reject the ruling alliance representatives for the proposed dialogue on electoral reforms. They will also demand that the government leave the 'identified war criminals' out of the proposed committee, sources said.

Held at AL General Secretary Abdul Jalil's residence, the meeting observed that the government has included 'war criminals and patrons of militants' despite the opposition's clear message that it will not sit in a dialogue with them.

The leaders at the meeting alleged that the ruling coalition is pushing the country towards a confrontation to cover its failures.

Referring to the recent mass agitation at Shanir Akhra, they said the government shamefully used its cadres to attack the people demonstrating for uninterrupted supply of water and power.

The meeting attended among others by Tofail Ahmed, Abdul Jalil, Motia Chowdhury, Rashed Khan Menon, Obaidul Quader, and Syed Zafar Sazzad discussed preparations for the Dhaka siege programme scheduled for June 5.
