14-party asks CEC to go before June 11

Otherwise, people would force them to quit the Election Commission (EC), the opposition leaders said at a rally at Mohammadpur in the city.

They said preparing a flawless revised voter list is not possible under the CEC and the two commissioners as they have already manipulated the new voter list.

They also demanded immediate reforms in the EC to ensure a free, fair and neutral election .

The opposition leaders said they would not allow any election in the country unless the CEC and two other commissioners are removed from the EC.

The 14-party organised the rally to press their demands for adequate water supply and uninterrupted power supply.

AL Presidium Member Tofail Ahmed said the government has politicised all the sectors, including the posts of president, head of the caretaker government and CEC, to cling to power.

Mohammad Nasim MP warned that they would enforce a seven-day hartal if any attempt is made to foil the 'Dhaka siege programme'.

Presided over by the Mohammadpur AL President Mohammad Sadek Khan, the rally was also addressed by Abdur Razzak MP, Suranjit Sengupta, Motia Chowdhury, Nurul Islam, Mukul Bose, Mofazzel Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Prof Abu Sayeed and Workers' Party President Rashed Khan Menon.
