2 get 32 yrs' RI for keeping heroin

The convicts are Mohammad Mojibur Rahman, 36, and Shariful Islam, 35.

Judge Mohammad Rabiul Hasan of the Second Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court handed down the sentence in presence of the convicts.

After cross-examination of six prosecution witnesses, the court delivered the verdict.

A team of high officials led by Inspector Abul Kalam Azad of Narcotics Control Department (NCD), Sutrapur Circle, arrested the two from a room of Dilshad Hotel at Nawabpur Road at about 8:00pm on June 16 last year. They also seized 500 grams of heroin from their possession.

Later, the NCD filed a case against them under the Narcotics Control Act in this connection the same day.

Assistant Public Prosecutor MM Faruq appeared for the state while Advocate Abdul Majid defended the accused.
