20 youths get Japanese scholarship

A function was organised to felicitate the fellows at the residence of Japanese ambassador recently, said a press release.

The fellows have already completed two-month Japanese language training course.

They will leave for Japan in the first week of July for two year's masters degrees in six disciplines. The disciplines are Public Administration, Economics, ICT, Medical Administration, Educational Administration and Environmental Policy.

Masayuki Inove, the Japanese ambassador, called upon the fellows to make best use of their knowledge acquired from the course and contribute to the development of Bangladesh.

The formal name of the Japan Development Scholarship is "The Japanese Grant Aid for Human Resource Development Scholarship (JDS)."

This scholarship was established by the government of Bangladesh with the assistance from Japan government in 2001.

A total of 87 Bangladeshi fellows were sent to Japan during the last four years. Of them, 52 have returned home.
