4 die in road crashes
Our Staff Correspondent from Chittagong reports: Three people, including a minor girl, were killed and another was injured in a road accident on Dhaka-Chittagong highway at Mirer Sarai upazila yesterday.
The accident took place when a bus collided head on with an autorickshaw on Dhaka-Chittagong bypass road near Gangchil Filing Station at Mithachharra Bazar at around 11:00am, police and witnesses said.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. Autorickshaw passenger Kamaluddin, 30, and driver Badsha Mia, 27, were killed on the spot while Kamaluddin's daughter identified as Pinky, 6, succumbed to her injuries on way to hospital, sources said.
The injured identified as Ekramul Haq, 27, was also a passenger of the autorickshaw, they said.
Police seized the bus but the bus driver managed to flee.
Our Correspondent from Sirajganj adds: One person was killed and two others were injured in a road accident at Motishaheberghat in Sirajganj town yesterday.
The injured were admitted to Sadar hospital in critical condition.
Police and witnesses said the accident occurred at around 9:30am when a pickup van hit a motorbike from behind.
Motorbike rider Arzu, 40, son of Azizul Haq of Raypur in the town, died on the spot and his two companions were injured.
Police sent the body to Sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.
