44 prisoners donate blood in Rajshahi
Some 44 prisoners of Rajshahi Central Jail donated blood voluntarily on Wednesday on the occasion of International Blood Donor Day.
Civil Surgeon Dr Fazlul Haque inaugurated the blood donation programme inside the prison, organised by the blood infusion department of Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
Senior Superintendent of Jail Police Rezaul Karim said that prisoners were interested in donating blood as a prisoner can earn remission of up to 40 days if they donate blood five times while serving the jail term.
