46 to vie for one seat

The admission test for first year honours under 2005-2006 academic sessions at Jahangirnagar University (JU) will begin on November 30 with 46 applicants to compete for each seat.

A total of 55,500 admission forms were sold against about 1200 seats in the 24 departments under four faculties. A total of 10,488 forms were sold under Ka (Science faculty) unit while 18,500, 13,750 and 12,750 were sold under 'Kha' (Social Science faculty), 'Ga' (Arts faculty) and 'Gha' (Life Science faculty) units respectively.

The admission test under 'Ka' unit and for Computer Science and Engineering, Physics and Mathematics departments will be held on November 30 while the admission test of Chemistry, Environmental science, Statistics and Geological science departments will be held on December 1.

Admission test for the departments under 'Gha' unit will begin on December 3 with Pharmacy, Biochemistry and Molecular Science departments while the admission test for Botany will be held on December 4.

Admission test for Zoology department will be held on December 5.

The admission test for Bangla department under 'Ga' unit will be held on December 5 while admission test of English, Drama and Dramatics and Philosophy departments will be held on December 6.

The admission test for History and Archaeology departments will be held on December 7. The admission test of International Relations department will be held on December 8.

The admission test for the Department of Business Administration under 'Kha' unit will be held on December 8 while the admission test of Economics and Geography will be held on December 10.

The admission test of Urban and Regional Planning and Anthropology departments will be held on December 11 while the admission test of Government and Politics department will be held on December 12.

The hour-long admission tests will be held dividing into five sessions starting from 9:30am to 5:00pm according to the roll numbers of the applicants. The seat plan will be available at the dean offices of respective departments a day before the examination.

The result of the admission tests will be published in national dailies later.

All scheduled classes and examinations of the university will remain suspended during the admission test.
