The 48-hour countrywide strike called by Bangladesh Truck-Covered Van-Tank Lorry, Long-Vehicle Transport Agency Owners and Workers Unity Council was ended peacefully yesterday.

No untoward incidents occurred during the 48-hour strike.

The leaders of the Council at a rally in the city yesterday said they will launch a tougher movement if their demands are not met by the holy Eid-ul- Fitre.

The Council organised the rally at Tejgaon truck stand to press their demands.

Of the 18-point demand, the major ones include reduction in fuel price, toll in ferry and bridges, an end to harassment and extortion by police and introduction of weighing-machine to check overloading, said Abul Kashem, vice president of Transport Agency Owners' Association.
