5 CU students injured in clash
Five students of Chittagong University (CU) were injured in a clash at Sholoshahar Railway Station in the port city yesterday afternoon.
The feuding groups also vandalised ten shops and damaged three CNG autorickshaws.
Sources said the clash was a sequel to beating of Sayem, a student of economics department, by some students belonging to CU shuttle train musical group 'Black Hole' during an altercation over seat in the train on Sunday.
For all latest news, follow The Daily Star's Google News channel. The clash erupted when Sayem with his local friends, equipped with rods and sticks, attacked the 'Black Hole' members when the shuttle train reached Sholoshahar Railway Station at around 2:15pm yesterday.
Three of the injured -- Parvez of English department, Abul Hasnat Jhinuk of statistics department and Mahtab Ahmed Shraban of botany department -- were admitted to Royal Hospital while two others -- Arif and Uzzal -- were given first aid.
