5 killed, 50 hurt in Sirajganj road accidents

The injured were admitted to sadar hospital and local clinic in the town.

Of them, the condition of five is critical.

Police and witnesses said two unidentified people died on the spot and 30 others were injured when a Dhaka-bound bus from Bogra collided head on with a speedy truck from opposite direction at Hatikumrul area on Dhaka-Bogra highway at 3.30pm.

The other accident occurred at 2.30pm when a Pabna-bound bus from Dhaka fell into a roadside ditch at Bagbari area.

One person died on the spot and another one died on the way to hospital.

The dead are Mojibar, 40, and Faridul, 35, both hailed from Bhangura in Pabna district.

Twenty people were injured.

In yet another accident, a bicycle rider named Farid, 25, died on the spot when a bus hit him from behind at Naimuri area on Hatikumrul-Bonpara highway at 9.30am.

Police recovered all the bodies and sent those to sadar hospital morgue for autopsy.
