5 killed in road crashes
Three of them died on the spot when a Sylhet-bound bus from Dhaka plunged into a roadside ditch on Dhaka-Sylhet highway at about 4:00am yesterday.
The bus fell into the ditch while trying to save a passer-by, who suddenly came in front of the running bus, at Satgram Shimultola in Araihazar, Narayanganj.

At least 30 people were also injured during the accident. Some of the critically injured were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital while the rests were admitted to different local hospitals and clinics.
In Chapainawabganj, two passengers were killed and 10 others injured when a paddy-laden truck overturned and plunged into a roadside ditch after one of its tyres got punctured at Mahdipur in Shibganj at about 10.30pm on Friday.
Police said Anwarul, 28, and Babu, 18, of Sodashibpur in Shibganj upazila died on the spot.
The passengers were returning to Shyampur in Shibganj upazila after harvesting paddy at Nitpur in Naogaon.
