60 launches stranded in mid-river for six hours
About 60 passenger-launches were stranded in the mid-rivers for almost six hours due to dense fog near Chandpur and Mehendiganj on Wednesday night causing sufferings to thousands of passengers.
Sources said on Wednesday evening 30 launches sailed from Dhaka for six southern districts while 30 launches started for Dhaka at the same time.
But at midnight heavy fog engulfed the area and the launches were forced to anchor in Meghna, Ilisha and Gozaria rivers.
