Affected people demand compensation
The people of Saestabad and Charmonai unions here staged sit-in and observed token hunger strike demanding compensation from Unocal for losses due to explosions during the geological survey in the area.
The programme was held in front of the Grant Geophysical (Inc) office, a subsidiary of Unocal, at Brown Compound area in the city from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
Advocate S M Iqbal, president of Barisal Press Club, broke the hunger strike by drinking juice.
